The Trenton Lady Bulldogs continue to be hexed by the Penney Lady Hornets, falling on Thursday night by a score of 49-39 in Hamilton. The game, along with the boy's varsity game that followed, was broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com.

The Trenton girls, unlike their first meeting with the Lady Hornets in December, jumped on Hamilton early, cruising to an 11-4 lead five minutes into the first quarter. However, Hamilton responded with a 15-0 run over the games' next seven minutes, and Trenton never saw the lead again.

Trenton was able to close the lead to three points with three minutes to go in the fourth quarter, but a three-point shot by Penney's Molly Ward boosted the lead to six, with Hamilton extending the advantage late from the free-throw line. Elsie Greenwood led Hamilton with 18 points, with Ward adding 11 (including a trio of three-pointers). Hamilton, the #1 seed for the Class 3, District 16 tournament at Bishop LeBlond High School in St. Joseph, now has a record of 20-2. Trenton, in falling to 20-5 on the season, was led by 13 points from Makaila Capeder and 11 from Avery Whitaker. Trenton has the #6 seed in the District 16 tournament, and will play Lawson on Monday night at 5:45 (on Hot Country Z 101.7).

The Trenton boys finished the regular season in strong fashion, rebounding from Tuesday night's blowout loss against Cameron with a 72-49 victory at Hamilton. The Bulldogs led from buzzer to buzzer, finishing the regular season at 15-10, and dropping the Hornets to 2-18.

Colby Larson led Trenton with 23 points, with Chase Tolson adding 12, and Seth Acton 11. The Penney Hornets received 17 points from Jalan Richman and 11 from Drew Finch. On Tuesday night at 8:45, the Trenton boys, seeded #5 in the District 16 tournament, will play the #4 seed Lawson Cardinals (on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com). The Hornets, with a #8 seed, will take on the top-seed Cameron on Tuesday afternoon from Bishop LeBlond High School in St. Joseph.
