The first recruiting class for rookie head coach Megan Cairns of North Central Missouri College is wrapping up, with eight area seniors, including two from Trenton High School, inking with the Lady Pirates softball program.

Last week, Trenton first baseman Avery Whitaker signed with NCMC in a ceremony in the THS Commons. Whitaker joins high school classmate and teammate Scotlin Hurley with the Lady Pirates for the next two years.

Earlier in the week, North Central officially announced the signings of three players from suburban Kansas City, while the St. Joseph News-Press reported the signing of Benton High School senior shortstop Kenzie Musser to NCMC.

The three players signing from the K.C. area to North Central are Hailey Lowery and Tierney Martin from Staley High School, and Jennifer Stock from Oak Park High School. All three have played many years together on "KC Pride", a summer fast pitch softball program in the metropolitan area.
