The Princeton Lady Tigers are playing some of the best basketball of any team in the region, winning their fifth game in a row on Tuesday night, 61-31 over the visiting Albany Lady Warriors, in Grand River Conference action from Princeton broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com. The win improves Princeton's record to 12-10 on the season.
Nancy Berwanger led the Lady Tiger attack with 27 points, with sophomore forward Paige Phillips adding 20. For Albany, Kristie Sorenson had 10 points.
The Princeton boys led at the half, and trailed Albany by only ONE point in a Tuesday night upset bid against Albany, but the veteran Warriors outscored Princeton 21-10 over the final quarter, picking up a 61-49 road win.
Albany was paced by sophomore Drew Cottrill with 18 points, with Tyler Lupfer adding 12, Drew Bain 11, and Rudy Sagun 10 points. Princeton, in falling to 7-14 on the season, had 14 points from Brant Faulkner, 13 from Justin Hamilton, and 11 points from Devin Purvis.
Albany will play Stanberry on Friday night, with Princeton traveling to Braymer. Next week, the Tigers finish the regular season at home against Gallatin (Tuesday) and at King City (Friday, February 15th on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com). The Princeton girls have been seeded #5 and the Princeton boys #7 for their district tournament, starting on Monday, February 18th at Gallatin High School. The Princeton girls and boys will each play South Harrison in the quarterfinal round.
