Sports : Trenton Bulldogs cruise to doubleheader sweep of Plattsburg

The Trenton Bulldogs won all THREE games played on Wednesday night at the THS Gymnasium against the Plattsburg Tigers, with the JV girls winning their final game of the season, followed by the varsity squads rolling to double-digit victories, as heard on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com.

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs jumped out on Plattsburg quickly, leading 16-5 after one quarter, and never losing that double-digit advantage in a 51-33 win, pushing Trenton's record to 18-4. Cassidy Cotton led a balanced Trenton attack with 15 points, with Makaila Capeder contributing 13. Tori Kelley had 14 points and Jackie Graham 11 for Plattsburg.

The Trenton JV girls doubled up Plattsburg by a score of 28-14.

The Trenton varsity boys played one of their most complete games of the season in routing Plattsburg 69-39. Austin Taul led Trenton with 16 points (14 in the first half), with Seth Acton adding 11 points (seven of those in the third quarter). Eleven Trenton players scored on the night, as THS improves to 13-9 on the season. Plattsburg had 19 points from Andrew Dickerson in the loss.

The Trenton varsity teams continue the home stretch of their regular seasons on FRIDAY night, traveling to Unionville to battle the Putnam County Midgets. The girls game will tip at 6:00, with the boy's game at 7:30. Pregame hits the air at 5:50 on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com. Next week, Trenton will host Cameron (Senior Night) on Tuesday and finish the regular season at Hamilton on Thursday, February 14th. The Class 3, District 16 seeding meeting will be this Saturday, February 9th, for the tournament that starts Monday, February 18th at Bishop LeBlond High School in St. Joseph.

The Trenton JV girls finished their season with a record of 6-4, downing Plattsburg on Wednesday night, 24-12.

Daryian Otto led Trenton with 9 points, with Bekah Wiggins scoring 8, Lexi Tolson 3, and Ally Ockenfels and Mallory Hooyman each scoring two.
