Sports : NCMC hoops back in win column with Sunday/Monday victories

The North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates, smarting after a mid-week loss to Cottey College at the Ketcham Community Center, were able to find some positive momentum on Sunday afternoon, traveling to Fayette and defeating the Central Methodist University JV squad by a final score of 93-59.

Sophomore forward Amanda Rodenberg had one of her finest outings as a Lady Pirate, scoring 32 points to go with 14 rebounds in the win. Kelsey Griffin had a fine shooting day with 17 points, with Samone Redditt and Mysti Williams both scoring 11 points.

On Monday night, the Pirate men played the Ottawa University JV, and broke away from a 40-40 tie at the half and get the 90-77 victory. The win evens North Central's OVERALL record at .500, with their Region XVI record remaining at 2-1.

NCMC was paced by 19 points from Eric McDaniel, 18 for Reggie Maxwell, 15 points from Darreon Parker and Marshon Norfleet, and 11 from Tyler Peterson.

The North Central women and men get back into Region XVI play on Wednesday night, February 6th, hosting Wentworth Military Academy at the Ketcham Community Center in downtown Trenton. The women's game will tip at 5:30, with the Lady Pirates trying to get their win region win in attempt #5, while the Pirate men will look to improve their record in region play to 3-1, taking on Wentworth at 7:30.
