Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox reports that Judge Thomas Chapman has sentenced 38-year old Jeffery Dwain Stevens of Chillicothe to a total of 17 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for his actions in a 2012 day-time burglary one mile to the east of Chillicothe.

Stevens was proven to be one of the burglars, and was in possession of a firearm which was discharged at a citizen who arrived at the home. Judge Chapman gave Stevens 12 years on the conviction of First Degree Burglary and 5 years on the conviction of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Both sentences will run consecutively to any other sentences Stevens is currently serving.

He is the LAST of five people to be sentenced to prison as a result of this investigation. Stevens had plead guilty several weeks ago and sentencing was delayed until this week for a "Sentencing Assessment Report" to be completed for the court.
