The Trenton Lady Bulldogs, after struggling for two quarters of play on Tuesday night at Chillicothe, exploded on the Lady Hornets in the third quarter to the tune of a 20-4 advantage, in a 53-41 win that moves the Lady Bulldogs to 14-1 on the season, going into next week's highly anticipated Hamilton Basketball Tournament.
Chillicothe stormed out of the gates to a 13-5 lead after one quarter, with senior guard Maddy Williams scoring nine points in that quarter, including a pair of three points shots. Trenton was able to rebound a bit in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Hornets 11-10 to trail by seven points at the break.
The Lady Bulldogs claimed their first lead of the game on a Cassidy Cotton mid-third quarter '3' that ended an 11-0 THS spurt. Tom Johnson had the call on KTTN FM 92.3:

That was one of a pair of third quarter three point shots hit by Cotton, who rebounded from a sprained ankle suffered on Saturday at Bethany to score a game-high 11 points for Trenton. Avery Whitaker, Makaila Capeder, and Megan Sole all had nine points.
Chillicothe, in falling to 7-8 on the season, picked up 18 points from Maddy Williams, 11 from Mackenzie Barnett, and 10 points from Maggie Graves.

The boy's game followed a similar pattern to the girls, with Chillicothe jumping out to a big early lead, as center Ryan Smith scored seven first-quarter points, including one on a breakaway dunk, to give the Hornets a 19-7 advantage after one quarter. Both teams scored 14 points in the second quarter, with the halftime score at 33-21.
Trenton started to show signs of a comeback in the third quarter, as Chase Tolson's eight point quarter pushed the Bulldogs to within eight points of the Hornets at the end of three.
The early portion of the fourth quarter belonged to Trenton, with senior guard Austin Taul bringing the visitors within two points of the lead just past the midway point of the fourth. Again, here is Tom Johnson on the call:

The now 6-9 Hornets were paced by 17 points from Tyler Clampitt and 16 from Nate McKiddy. Trenton, in falling to 10-6 on the campaign, was led by 26 points from Colby Larson (13 of those in the fourth quarter), 13 from Taul, and 10 from Tolson.
