Sports : Trenton boys rally for season's 10th win, 66-64 over Putnam County (plus tournament scoreboard)

The Trenton Bulldogs rode the shooting brilliance of senior guard Austin Taul to a South Harrison Tournament semifinal victory over Putnam County on Thursday night, 66-64 in a game broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3 and

Taul finished with 26 points to lead the now 10-4 Bulldogs, who will play South Harrison in the tournament title game on Saturday night at 7:30. Colby Larson added 20 points for the victorious Bulldogs.

Putnam County had 19 points from senior guard Trey Ream (17 of those in the first half), 16 points from senior forward Deion Hunt, and 13 points from Cory Lewis. Putnam County will play Ridgeway in the boy's third place game in Bethany on Saturday afternoon at 4:30.

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs struggled for the first 2 1/2 quarters of their game against Princeton, but did find some offensive rhythm in the third quarter, and were able to pull away from the Lady Tigers for a 50-19 win. Trenton, now 12-1 on the season, was paced by 14 points from Cassidy Cotton. No Lady Tigers reached double figures. Trenton will play South Harrison in the girl's championship game on Saturday night at 6 o'clock. Princeton plays Putnam County in the third place game Saturday at 3 o'clock.

In Thursday's other semifinals from South Harrison, the host South Harrison boys survived an upset bid by the #10 ranked Ridgeway Owls, winning by a final score of 64-56, while the South Harrison Lady Bulldogs won a tightly-contested contest against the Putnam County Lady Midgets, 56-53.

In Friday night's action in Bethany, SEVENTH place games and CONSOLATION finals will be played. The schedule will have the Cainsville Redettes playing Ridgeway in the girl's seventh place game at 4:30, with the Northeast Nodaway boys playing Cainsville for seventh place at 5:50. In the consolation finals, the Northeast Nodaway girls play North Harrison at 7:10, with the Princeton boys playing North Harrison at 8:30.
