News : Grundy County authorities charge Mexican man with kidnapping, child endangerment

Trenton Police Chief Tommy Wright says a Mexican man has been charged in Grundy County with kidnapping and child enticement. In addition, Wright said the man, Felix Lopez Rivera, a 21-year old Mexican citizen from the Chicago, Illinois area, was charged in Livingston County with Statutory Rape and Sodomy, and he is on a detainer from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency. Chief Wright said the Mexican man illegally was working in the United States.

Chief Wright said Trenton Police, on Friday, were investigating what was initially reported as a runaway juvenile. He said the investigation discovered the 13-year old Trenton girl had been corresponding by phone and computer with a 21-year old Mexican man from the Chicago area. Fearing the man had traveled to Trenton, officers notified agencies surrounding Trenton of the information, and requested help in checking area gas stations and motels.

With the assistance of Chillicothe Police, the suspect and the juvenile were located at a Chillicothe motel on Friday night. The juvenile was taken to a Kansas City area hospital for treatment. Her name will not be released.
