KTTN/KGOZ Sports : Trenton girls back in the win column, rolling over Warrenton

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs had ten days to stew over their first loss of the season, a one-point defeat against Marceline. On Friday night, the Lady Bulldogs took their frustrations out on the Lady Warriors of Warrenton High School, improving to 9-1 with a decisive 61-27 victory at the Ketcham Community Center in Trenton.

In a game broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3, Trenton jumped out to a 17-6 lead after one quarter, and a 35-9 halftime advantage, and never lost a double-digit lead in the second half.

Avery Whitaker led a balanced Trenton attack with 17 points, with Cassidy Cotton hitting 4-of-8 three-point shots for 12 points, Makaila Capeder adding 11, and Madi Trump 10. The Lady Bulldogs will next be in action on Thursday night, January 3rd, hosting Brookfield at 6:00 (on KTTN FM 92.3). Trenton's Holiday Hoops game with St. Joseph Lafayette scheduled for Thursday, December 20th was cancelled by snowy weather.

In their loss to Trenton, Warrenton was paced by 14 points from Hannah Sutton.

There were FIVE games played before the Trenton-Warrenton girl's game on Friday at the Ketcham Community Center at NCMC in Trenton. Final scores were: Winston girls 60, Albany 36; Albany boys over Winston 74-57; the Rock Port girls over Newtown-Harris 50-44; the Rock Port boys beat Newtown-Harris 58-48; and the Carrollton boys beat Hamilton 54-37.
