The PAR Broadcast Group has been notified of an upcoming name change for Premium Standard Farms LLC of Princeton. A letter from General Manager Michael Rainwater reports the company will be changing its name to "Murphy Brown of Missouri LLC" by the end of this calendar year. The name change is described as "recognizing greater alignment with Murphy Brown LLC and Smithfield Foods Incorporated".
PSF was founded in Princeton in 1988. PSF was acquired by Smithfield Foods in 2007. Hog farms in North Carolina were shifted from PSF to the Murphy Brown name after the 2007 acquisition by Smithfield Foods.
The name and logo change will be noticeable on business matters, company correspondence, and company signage, including vehicles. E-mail accounts will undergo the name change. The main mailing address will REMAIN: Route 2, Box 300-D in Princeton, but will be under the name Murphy Brown of Missouri.
The letter from G.M. Rainwater concluded with a statement that Murphy Brown will continue to be an "economic engine in north Missouri", providing what it described as "excellent jobs and a strong future for living and working in a rural setting".
