KTTN/KGOZ Sports : Grundy R-5 splits fifth place games at HDC Basketball Tournament

The Grundy R-5 boys won the consolation championship of the HDC Conference Basketball Tournament on Thursday night, defeating Pattonsburg by a final score of 67-47. Brody Hatcher led Grundy with 21 points, with Clayton Radcliff adding 20, and Mason Larson 15. Pattonsburg's Tyler Fore scored 18 points.

The Tri-County boys are in the win column for the first time this season, with the young Mustangs winning the ninth place game on Thursday night at North Mercer, 47-38 over the Cainsville Redmen. Zack Neeley scored 12 points for Tri-County, with Nate Sutton contributing 11, and Dillon Cook 10 points in the win. Cainsville had Slade Dorff with 12 points, while the Redmen were led by 13 points from Brian Reno.

The girl's fifth place game went to North Harrison's Lady Shamrocks, 37-24 over Grundy R-5. Haley Craig paced North Harrison with 17 points, while Katie Coin led the Lady Panthers with eight points.

The girl's ninth place game was won by Ridgeway, 46-22 over Tri-County. Katelyn Carlson had a strong night for the Lady Owls with 25 points, while Briana Hixson led the Lady Mustangs with 12 points.
