KTTN/KGOZ News : Assistance for veterans is available MONTHLY
Posted by John on 2012/12/10 13:00:00 (158 reads) News by the same author

The Trenton V-F-W Hall and Trenton HyVee will be locations early next month for veterans, and / or family members, to receive assistance on veterans benefits.

An official from the Veteran's Administration in Kansas City plans to be in Trenton January 4th at the V-F-W Hall downtown. The counselor is expected to there by 10:30 that Friday morning and would like to meet with reservists as well
as servicemen and women who have returned from deployments overseas.

Wayne Kleinschimidt of Trenton will be available from 9 to 3 o'clock on that Friday at the Trenton V-F-W Hall to help with veteran's claims for benefits. On Monday, January 7th, Kleinschmidt plans to be at Trenton Hy-Vee Food Store from 9 o'clock until 3 o'clock to provide assistance to Veterans.

All services are provided free of charge to the Veterans and their families.

On an unrelated note, Kleinschmidt says there's still a need to find two more drivers for the V-A shuttle van before it can locate at Trenton. Presently, three persons have received the required training. IF two more drivers are not found soon, Kleinschmidt said Trenton faces the possibility of losing the shuttle van to another
community. Potential drivers do not have to be a Veteran; and could receive a letter of endorsement from the V-A that could be useful when applying for a job.

Persons interested in being a volunteer driver, taking Veterans to their medical appointments in other cities, are to contact Wayne Kleinschmidt of Trenton, at 359-2078 Monday through Friday.
