KTTN/KGOZ News : Livingston County Sheriff's Department to receive $9,000 grant
Posted by Tom on 2012/12/7 9:20:00 (207 reads) News by the same author

The Livingston County Sheriff's Department has been approved for a $9,000 local law enforcement block grant. That is according to Sheriff Steve Cox, who says the money will be used toward the purchase of a new or used patrol vehicle. The grant application was written by Sergeant Michael Claypole with assistance from Presiding Commissioner Eva Danner-Horton and Sheriff Cox.

Cox said age, mileage, and maintenance repair costs were key factors in Livingston County being awarded the grant. Livingston County received the same grant last year, and used that money towards the purchase of a 2012 Dodge Charger police package vehicle. Cox said his office expects to obtain a newer vehicle which will get better fuel mileage and have much lower maintenance costs. Notification of the grant came from the Missouri Department of Public Safety.

Concerning another topic, the LCSD website continues to show growth. There were more than 29,700 visits in November. The purpose of the website, according to Cox, is to quickly share information to help increase safety and reduce crime.
