KTTN/KGOZ Sports : Hamilton boys go winless at KCI Basketball Tournament

The Penney High School boy's basketball team came up short against Plattsburg on Monday night in the consolation semifinals of the KCI Conference Basketball Tournament in Lawson, bowing out of the event with an 0-2 record.

The Tigers, in a 59-56 victory, were led by 20 points from Andrew Dickerson and 17 from LeArron Hicks. The win pushes Plattsburg into Thursday night's consolation final against the Lathrop Mules, after Lathrop beat North Platte by a score of 61-54. That consolation final is scheduled for a 6:30 tipoff at Lawson High School (host of the event).

On Saturday, in boy's quarterfinal play, West Platte beat Plattsburg, Lawson downed North Platte 70-54, East Buchanan went overtime to defeat Lathrop 49-43, and Mid-Buchanan tripped up Hamilton 54-41.

In Tuesday night's boys SEMIFINALS from Lawson, the West Platte Blue Jays take on the Mid-Buchanan Dragons at 6 o'clock, and the Lawson Cardinals battle the East Buchanan Bulldogs at 9 o'clock.

In the KCI Conference's girls tournament, SATURDAY'S quarterfinal scores were: Lawson 54, East Buchanan 22; Plattsburg 47, Lathrop 37; North Platte 55, West Platte 21; and Hamilton 64, Mid-Buchanan 9.

In Monday night's girls consolation semifinals, Lathrop downed Mid-Buchanan 57-18 and East Buchanan took a 53-31 victory over West Platte, moving the Lady Mules and Lady Bulldogs into the consolation championship game on Thursday night at 5 o'clock.

In Tuesday night's girls semifinals, the top-seeds from Hamilton battle Plattsburg at 4:30 and the #2 and #3 seeds go at it, with the North Platte Lady Panthers taking on the Lawson Lady Cardinals. The championship games will be played on Friday night (girls at 6:30 and boys at 8:00).

The 2012 KCI Conference Basketball Tournament is being played at the Lawson High School gymnasium.

In regular season high school basketball on Monday night, the Polo Panthers and Ridgeway Owls split a doubleheader at Ridgeway High School, with the Polo girls taking a 55-14 victory (behind 23 points from Sammie Jo Copeland), and the Ridgeway boys victorious by a final score of 62-55. The Owls were led by 21 points from Ben Rinehart.
