The defending district champion Milan Lady Wildcats, playing without starting point guard Hannah Sanders, used a stifling full-court pressure defense to overwhelm Novinger in a 50-27 victory on Tuesday night, in a Novinger Tournament girl's quarterfinal game heard on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com.

Bianca Caponetto led the Lady 'Cats with 16 points, with Andra Sylvester adding 12. Emily Reardon had 12 points for Novinger. The win pushes Milan into a Thursday night semifinal with the third-seeded Green City Lady Gophers, with that 7:00 tipoff to be broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com. Green City advanced with a 42-27 win over Brashear.

The Milan boys lost to Scotland County on Tuesday night by a score of 71-33, dropping their season opener (on Hot Country Z 101.7). Milan was led by sophomore guard Raul Palacios with 10 points. The victorious Tigers had 24 points from Lucas Howard and 13 for Brice Cowell. LaPlata cruised past Green City in the other boy's quarterfinal played on Tuesday night, 69-29.

The Trenton boys, behind 18 points from senior forward Colby Larson, beat Gilman City in the Gallatin Tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday night. Larson also scored his 1,000th career point in the Bulldog victory, pushing Trenton into a 5:45 semifinal game with the Braymer Bobcats on Thursday night (to be heard on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com). Braymer advanced on Tuesday night with a 56-39 win over Winston.

In girl's play on Tuesday night from Gallatin, Braymer beat Winston 54-45, while Gallatin downed Gilman City 63-33. The Lady Bulldogs of Gallatin will take on the Trenton Lady Bulldogs in a 7:00 Thursday night semifinal on Hot Country Z 101.7, with Braymer and Maysville meeting in a 4:30 girl's semifinal. Gallatin and Maysville meet in the Thursday night 'late-night' boy's semifinal, at approximately 8:15.
