A first aid program for pets will be held in Trenton December 1st. The first aid and C-P-R class will be held in the training room of the
Trenton Fire Department on Saturday from 2 o’clock until 4 o’clock.


According to Instructor Robert Romesburg, the class covers skills necessary for an emergency in a pet’s life. The American Red Cross Pet First Aid and CPR Course certifies owners in Dog and Cat CPR.

Topics to be covered include preparing your pet for a disaster, assembling a pet first aid kit, making a disaster plan to include your pet,
recognizing a pet emergency, primary assessment, and assessing the pet’s vitals.

Other topics include snout-to-tail assessment for injury, rescue breathing and dog/cat CPR, choking management, insect bites and stings, and heat and cold seizures. The cost for the course is 25 dollars.

Those participating in the Saturday class must be 14 years of age or older. Pets are not allowed at the training unless they are service dogs.
