KTTN/KGOZ News : Dearborn business sells Powerball ticket
Posted by John on 2012/11/29 10:40:00 (203 reads) News by the same author

A Powerball ticket sold in the northwest Missouri town of Dearborn matched all six Powerball numbers drawn to win half of Wednesday night's $587.5 million jackpot. At $293.7 million, this is the largest jackpot prize ever won in Missouri and the second-largest Powerball jackpot awarded nationwide.

The ticket was sold at Trex Mart, 17-605 Highway Z, in Dearborn. The winning numbers were: 5, 16, 22, 23, 29, and the Powerball number was 6.

May Scheve Reardon, executive director of the Missouri Lottery said the person holding the winning ticket needs to sign the back and put it in a safe place until it can be taken to a Missouri Lottery office.

She also recommends some legal and financial advice before claiming the prize. The Missouri winner has 180 days to claim this prize, which in this case is May 27, 2013. The winner can select to get the jackpot prize in 30 payments over 29 years or in one lump-sum payment worth approximately $192.3 million before taxes. If no choice is made in 60 days, the jackpot is automatically divided into 30 payments.

Trex-Mart of Dearborn will receive a bonus check for $50,000 for selling the winning ticket. In addition to the jackpot winner from last night’s drawing, Missouri players won more than $3 million in other prizes, including two tickets that were worth $1 million each. They were purchased in Joplin (Casey’s General Store on Rangeline Road) and Kansas City (Sun-Fresh on Vivion Road). Eight other winning lottery tickets are worth $10,000.
