Fifteen agriculture students from North Central Missouri College in Trenton participated in the Missouri Post-Secondary Agriculture Student Organization State Conference last week in Sedalia. The conference was hosted by State Fair Community College, with students and advisors from seven Missouri community colleges attending.

During the event, Aaron Ostrander, an NCMC freshman from Gower, was elected as the 2012-13 Missouri PAS President.

Many NCMC attendees qualified for national competitions as a result of their accomplishments at the state conference. The national PAS Conference will be held in Louisville, Kentucky next March. Qualifying in Career Planning were Lane Aldrich, Loren Fox, Caleb Graham, Logan Kelly, Josie Lockwood, Hannah Mullany, Madeline Neill, Aaron Ostrander, Jacob Pollard, and Dawn Wyant. Those qualifying for nationals in Career Progress were Cara Fordyce, Garrett Everett, and Garrett Hill. Those qualifying in Employment Interview were Shelby Chaney, Cara Fordyce, and Jacob Pollard. Shelby Chaney also qualified in Career Specialist Programs.

The National PAS Organization was founded in 1980 in Kansas City with a mission to provide students with opportunities for individual growth, leadership, and career preparation in agriculture. North Central Missouri College is a charter member of both the Missouri and National PAS Organizations. NCMC offers Associate of Applied Science and Associate of Arts transfer degrees that emphasize Agriculture, Natural Resources and Equine Management. The department advisors are Rustin Jumps and David Nowland.
