The Trenton Bulldogs, after struggling in the first quarter last night against Kirksville, used the strength of a long second quarter drive to race past the visiting Tigers, 24-7 on Friday night at C.F. Russell Stadium.

Kirksville led 7-0 after one quarter on a 22 yard scoring run by Luke Schwend and the extra point, and the Tigers threatened to take a two score lead early in the second quarter, but a missed field goal gave the Bulldogs the ball at the 20. Ten minutes later, with three seconds left in the half, Trenton attempted to get on the board before the break, facing fourth and goal from the one yard line:

Trenton would dominate the second half, taking the lead on a 27 yard field goal by Seth Acton with 6:58 to go in the third quarter, and putting the game away in the fourth, with Chanse Houghton going in from one yard out with 8:22 to go, and Austin Taul putting the cap on the scoring with 2:56 remaining:

Taul finished with 27 carries for 211 yards for THS. The win improves the Bulldogs record to 4-4 going into next Friday's regular season finale at Concordia. Kirksville, with the loss, falls to 3-5, and fails to continue its positive momentum coming off of last week's victory at Mexico.

Victorious head coach Wes Croy spoke of the emotion showed by his team on Senior Night:
