KTTN/KGOZ News : Kauffman Scholarship Foundation rewards 37 Mercer County women attending Missouri universities

The Gene Kauffman Scholarship Foundation has awarded $116,000 in scholarships this semester to 37 female graduates of Princeton and North Mercer High School. Fourteen of those recipients are students at North Central Missouri College in Trenton.

Northwest Missouri State students make up nine of those on the receiving list, followed by the University of Missouri - Columbia with four, and Missouri State University - Springfield and Missouri Western State University - St. Joseph with three each.

The University of Missouri - Kansas City, University of Central Missouri - Warrensburg, Vatterott College - St. Joseph, and College of the Ozarks - Point Lookout all have one student receiving a scholarship this semester from the Gene Kauffman Scholarship Foundation.

The foundation is a trust established by the late Gene Kauffman of Princeton. He specified the scholarships are for female, unmarried, non-smoking graduates of high schools in Mercer County who have evidence of need. They must be enrolled in at least 12 hours of credit an an accredited Missouri college or university.

Applications for the SPRING semester will be available on Thursday, November 1st at the high school buildings in Princeton and Mercer, and on both school's websites.
