The Trenton Lady Bulldogs walloped Lawson on Thursday night, 10-0 in five innings, in a Class 3, District 15 semifinal game at Excelsior Springs High School broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com.

The game was scoreless for one inning before THS exploded for four runs to break the cap in the bottom of the second inning. Cassidy Cotton, Rahel Horner, Maddie Hooyman, and pinch-runner Tosha Wilson scored in the inning for Trenton, with Scotlin Hurley cracking a run-scoring triple in the inning.

Trenton senior right-hander Scotlin Hurley was strong from the pitching rubber, shutting out Lawson over five innings, with only three hits allowed and three strikeouts, in addition to zero walks.

For Trenton, Maddie Hooyman was 3 for 4 with two runs scored, Madi Trump 2 for 4 with a run scored, Scotlin Hurley 3 for 4 with a run scored, and the RBI single that plated Hooyman and ended the game in the bottom of the fifth inning, while third baseman Kate Lowrey continued her hot hitting with a pair of base knocks. Trenton, as a team, connected for 13 hits on the night, and did not commit an error defensively.

In the first game of the night, top-seeded Cameron defeated Chillicothe by a score of 6-2, sending the Lady Dragons into their third meeting of the season with Trenton. Cameron gave Trenton two of its three losses this season, defeating the Lady Bulldogs on Thursday, September 20th at Cameron and on Saturday, September 22nd in the Mid-Buchanan Tournament. Trenton struggled defensively in both games.

The Cameron-Trenton showdown from Excelsior Springs will be broadcast on Saturday morning on KTTN FM 92.3 and www.kttn.com, with pregame at 10:45 and first pitch at 11 o'clock. The winner advances into the “Round of 16” in Missouri's Class 3 state playoffs.
