Two squads hovering around the .500 mark battled for three sets on Monday night at Chillicothe High School, with the host Lady Hornets moving one game above the break-even mark with a 25-12, 19-25, 25-18 victory over the Trenton Lady Bulldogs.
The loss drops Trenton's record to 7-9, two games below .500, going into a Tuesday night test at Lathrop High School.
Trenton, in the loss, was led by Katie Ireland with seven kills and two blocks, Bekah Wiggins with one block, Gwen Delp with 13 and Kelsey Scott 10 digs, Kate Ewald with 15 assists, and Kelsey Scott with four ace serves.
The Chillicothe JV beat Trenton in a close two-set sweep, 25-22 and 25-22.
