Posted by Tom on 2012/9/28 8:50:00 (250 reads) News by the same author

Trenton traveled to Bethany on Thursday night in search of their 20th win of the season. The Lady Bulldogs would jump out to a quick lead in the first inning when Maddie Hooyman led the game off with a single and then stole second. Scotlin Hurley drove home Hooyman with a double to left, advancing to third on a South Harrison error. Avery Whitaker would follow with a single and both Bulldogs would score on a South Harrison throwing error; leaving THS up 3-0 after one inning.

Trenton would strike for six more runs in the third inning with help from 5 South Harrison errors and hits by Hurley, Capeder, Cassidy Cotton, McKinley Hurley, and Hooyman to take a 9-0 lead.

Trenton would continue the offensive outburst in the 5th inning thanks to hits from Cotton, McKinley Hurley, Hooyman and Madi Trump. The Lady Bulldogs finished the night with 11 runs on 14 hits, in the 11-0 shoutout.

Included in the offensive onslaught was a 4 for 4 effort from Maddie Hooyman, who also drove home two, scored once and stole two bases. Scotlin Hurley was 2-4 with 2 runs and an RBI, Makaila Capeder was 2-3 with a run and an RBI, Cotton was 2-3 with 2 runs and an RBI, McKinley Hurley was 2-3 with 2 runs and 2 RBI, while Madi Trump and Avery Whitaker picked up the other two Bulldog hits.

Scotlin Hurley was in control again on the mound, picking up her 16th win of the season. Hurley allowed only three base-runners, 1 walk and two Bulldog errors, throwing her second no-hitter of the season while striking out 8 batters.

Trenton moves to 20-3 on the season and will try to close out the regular season with a win at Chillicothe Monday night. That 5 o'clock game, from Danner Park, will be broadcast LIVE on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com, with on-the-air coverage, along with video and web-streaming audio options from the website!
