Posted by Tom on 2012/9/28 8:08:10 (202 reads) News by the same author

The Grundy R-5 School District has nominated Destin Gann and Morgan Axtell for the Prudential "Spirit of Community" award. The nationwide program recognizes middle level and high school students for outstanding acts of community service.

Grundy R-5 Guidance Counselor Kimbra Mullenix says the two students have made a difference in their community by volunteering over the past year.

Destin Gann is Grundy R-5's high school nominee. He has spent numerous hours volunteering with the Galt Fire Department as a junior firefighter, and helps with clean-up and trash pickup at the Galt Park.

Morgan Axtell is the middle school nominee. She has collected and distributed books to Children's Mercy Hospital, gave the proceeds of her garage sale to her classroom to be used for supplies, helps with the nursery at church, and assists with clean-up and trash pickup at the Galt Park. She also has collected and distributed personal items to surrounding schools over the flu season.
