KTTN/KGOZ Sports : Princeton rallies for high-scoring GRC softball win, 13-12
Posted by Tom on 2012/9/28 7:30:00 (122 reads) News by the same author

The Princeton Lady Tigers, on Tuesday night, scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings, and held Worth County scoreless in those frames, allowing PHS to escape town with a 13-12 victory.

Playing without injured senior shortstop Nancy Berwanger (out indefinitely with a shoulder separation), Princeton fell behind 4-2 after one inning, 5-3 after 2, and 10-5 after four innings. However, a six run top of the fifth surged Princeton back into the contest.

Worth County committed 11 errors in the loss, perhaps the most damaging statistic working against the home team, keeping Princeton rallies alive on a night that saw only six base hits for PHS. Shaylee Henley led the Princeton attack with a double, three runs scored, and three RBI's.

Elsewhere on Tuesday night, Milan scored an eighth-inning run on a squeeze bunt by Hannah Sanders that scored Kailyn Watts, as the Lady Wildcats beat Linn County 3-2 at Legion Field in Milan.

Gallatin took a tough loss on Tuesday night, as King City rallied with six runs in the sixth inning, and four in the seventh, scoring the final 10 runs of the game, as the Lady Wildkats claimed a 13-9 victory at Gallatin High School in GRC action.
