Sports : THS volleyball gets in win column, sweeping Hamilton

The Trenton varsity volleyball team opened the new week with their first win of the season, sweeping Hamilton in straight sets on Monday night at Penney High School.

THS was victorious 25-17, 25-15, with Lakisha Hughs leading the Lady Bulldogs with ten kills, while Katie Ireland, Bekah Wiggins, and Kelsey Scott combined for seven.

Trenton's defense was fortified by the play of Gwen Delp, with ten digs, and Kelsey Scott, with five. Kate Ewald had 14 assists, while Monica Weaver, Courtney Weyer, and Kelsey Scott combined for seven aces.

The Trenton JV beat Hamilton 25-8, 25-8, with Tomi Delp leading the way with five aces, five digs, and four kills.

The Trenton Middle School volleyball teams swept at Kirksville on Monday night. The 'A' team won by a score of 24-26, 25-2, 25-21, with the 'B' team winning by score of 25-16, 25-14. The TMS teams play on Tuesday night at 5 o'clock in Plattsburg. The Trenton varsity and JV squad are at the Lathrop Tournament this coming Saturday.
