The Trenton offense exploded for 14 runs Monday night against Plattsburg, cruising to a 14-2 victory at Griffin Field against the visiting Minutewomen.

It did not take the Bulldog offense long to get on the scoreboard, as in the bottom of the first inning, Maddie Hooyman reached on a bunt single, stole second and third and then scored on a Madi Trump 2-run home run off the left field foul pole.

Plattsburg came back with two runs in the top of the second to tie the game, only to see THS plate six runs in the bottom of the inning.

Cassidy Cotton led off with a walk and then scored on a Makaila Capeder triple. Rahel Horner singled home Capeder and would score on a Maddie Hooyman triple. Madi Trump followed with a walk and both Hooyman and Trump scored on passed balls. Kate Lowrey reached on an error and scored on an Avery Whitaker triple.

Trenton's explosive offense added six more tallies in the bottom of the third to finish the scoring, with the final 14-2 in the five inning run-rule shortened contest.

Hooyman finished 3-3 with 3 runs scored, Trump was 2-2 with 3 runs scored and 4 RBI. Capeder was 3-3 with 2 runs scored and an RBI and Rahel Horner was 2-3 with 2 runs scored. Mallory Hooyman picked up her first varsity win, going all 5 innings, allowing only 1 hit and 1 earned run while striking out 7.

The Trenton JV team walloped Plattsburg by a score of 12-0. Daryian Otto threw all four innings, facing only one batter over the minimum and striking out nine Lady Tigers.

Tosha Wilson had a hit, a walk and 2 runs and steals. Megan Lynch had 2 runs and 2 walks. Ally Ockenfels had a run, a walk and a stolen base. Maggie McNabb had 2 runs, 2 walks and a stolen base.

Trenton plays host to the Lady Mules of Lathrop on Tuesday night at 5 o'clock. We also learned this morning that Milan and Trenton are attempting to set up a game for Thursday night in Milan, although that date has not yet been made official, as Milan Athletic Director Andrea Dabney is seeking umpires to call that game.

Trenton will host the annual Nan Carter Tournament along with the North Central Missouri College softball program this Saturday at the Ebbe Sports Complex at Trenton High School. Trenton is scheduled to play Marceline at 8 o'clock in the morning, followed by Kirksville at 9:30.
