Sports : Trenton girl's golf team beats Putnam County

The Trenton Lady Bulldog golf team tuned up for today's (Tuesday's) Gallatin Tournament with a head-to-head victory on Monday afternoon over Putnam County, with THS beating the Midgets 191-239 at Riverside Country Club in Trenton.

Trenton senior Chandler Wilson earned medalist honors with a round of 42. Other THS scores were Katie Lenhart at 47, Haley Purkapile 48, Lauren Schmidt 54, and Karley McCollum 66.

Last Wednesday, Trenton shot 443 to finish in a tie for NINTH place (with Savannah) in the Richmond Golf Tournament at the tough Shirkey Course in Richmond.

Notre Dame DeSion won the tournament with a score of 356, followed by St. Teresa's Academy at 365, and Blue Springs at 370. Other schools in the field were Park Hill South, Moberly, Warrensburg, Sedalia Smith-Cotton, Pembroke Hill, Richmond, Excelsior Springs, and Marshall. Chillicothe finished in 12th place, with a score of 478.

Individually, Trenton's Chandler Wilson finished in a three-way tie for 10th place, earning a medal with a score of 94. Emily McCann of St. Teresa's and Mariah Peters of Blue Springs shared medalist honors at 79.

Other Trenton scores were Haley Purkapile at 102, Katie Lenhart 113, Karley McCollum 134, and Lauren Schmidt 137.

Chillicothe's scores were 116 from Morgan Dowell, 117 from Shelley Rucker, 121 from Hannah Leamer, 124 for Kaylee Thieme, and 135 for Megan Churchill.
