Sports : Trenton win Schuyler County links title, Wilson shoots 90 for medalist honors

The busy Trenton Lady Bulldog golf team played in its third event over three days on Thursday, and came home with plenty of hardware, with the team earning 1st place in the six team tournament with a score of 405, and senior Chandler Wilson taking the individual medalist honors with a round of 90 on the par 72 course in Lancaster.

Finishing behind Trenton in the team standings were Brookfield (2nd place) at 418, Kirksville at 429, Putnam County at 460, LaPlata at 472, and Schuyler County at 540.

Brookfield's Miranda White finished in second place individually, just two strokes behind Trenton's Wilson at 92. Trenton's Haley Purkapile was third place at 97. Nicole Liebhart of Brookfield was fifth at 101, with Trenton's Katie Lenhart sixth at 101, Putnam County's Kailey Campbell seventh at 102, and Brookfield's Amanda Huffemeier in ninth place at 108.

Other scores for Trenton on the day were 117 from Lauren Schmidt and 130 from Karley McCollum.

The Trenton High School girl's golfers are next in action on Wednesday, September 5th, playing at the Richmond Tournament.

Backtracking to Wednesday's performance, the Lady Bulldogs won a triangular at the Green Hills Golf Course in Chillicothe, shooting a score of 204 to defeat Chillicothe's score of 213 and Putnam County's 225.

Trenton individual scores on the day were 45 from Purkapile (playing in her first meet of the season after reaching the required amount of practice time to become eligible), 46 from Wilson, 51 from Lenhart, and 62's for McCollum and Schmidt.
