KTTN/KGOZ News : Representative Guernsey receives challenger in November's election
Posted by Tom on 2012/8/29 18:40:42 (221 reads) News by the same author

A King City man will be challenging incumbent State Representative Casey Guernsey for his second district Missouri house seat. The Secretary of State has certified enough valid signatures on a citizen's petition to allow Jim Nash of rural King City to be an INDEPENDENT candidate in the November 6th election.

His candidate declaration form shows a home address of 4590 440th Stret in Gentry County. The petition had to contain valid signatures of second district registered voters equal to at least 2% of the number of total votes cast in the 2010 house election.

Nash submitted his notarized candidate declaration form to the Secretary of State's office by July 2nd. This week, the office announced the certification of his candidacy.

Casey Guernsey of Bethany is a Republican, seeking re-election to the Missouri House. No Democratic candidate filed for the two-year term.

With re-districting taking effect on January 1, 2013, the second house district will include Harrison, Daviess, DeKalb, and Gentry Counties across northwest Missouri.
