KTTN/KGOZ Sports : Trenton run-rules Lawson to improve to 3-0 (plus Tuesday night scoreboard)

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs improved to 3-0 on the young season with their most impressive performance of 2012 to date, crushing a good Lawson Lady Cardinal team 10-0 in five innings on Tuesday night, in action from Mark Griffin Memorial Field broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7 and www.kgozfm.com.

The Lady Bulldogs soared out of the gate, with Maddie Hooyman singling to lead off the first inning, stealing second and third, and scoring on a single by Scotlin Hurley. Madi Trump, who walked prior to Hurley's at-bat, scored on a ground ball by Kate Lowrey, before Avery Whitaker did damage with Hurley standing on third base:

An error by the Lawson second baseman gave Trenton a fourth run, and a commanding lead.

The Lady Bulldogs continued to pour on the pressure in the second inning, with Maddie Hooyman scoring on back-to-back wild pitches, and McKinley Hurley scoring on a wild pitch. Trenton added four more tallies in the third inning to make the score 10-0, with Hooyman scoring her third run of the night on a single by Scotlin Hurley, a play preceded by a two-run triple by sophomore McKinley Hurley:

Cassidy Cotton scored on a wild pitch for the first run of the third. The offense was plenty for Scotlin Hurley, who dominated in her five innings of work, giving up two hits and no runs with only one walk, ending a string of 18 1/3 innings to start the season without a free pass.

Head coach John Cowling said things went quickly in a positive direction for the Lady 'Dawgs:

Cowling said one of the keys to Trenton success is the even positive keel the team remains at in pre-game:

Trenton won the JV game over Lawson 1-0 in five innings behind the shutout pitching of Daryian Otto, who fired one-hit softball with eight strikeouts.

Trenton's run scored in the fourth inning, as Megan Lynch, stole second, stole third, and came home to score on an overthrow. The JV's victory improves the girl's record to 1-1-1.
