Sports : Trenton girls tennis routs Lafayette

The Trenton girl's tennis team had no trouble with the Fighting Irish of St. Joseph Lafayette on Thursday afternoon, sweeping the "host" school in varsity and JV action at Noyes Courts in St. Joseph.

Trenton won the varsity match with Lafayette, 9-0. Here are the individual results:

#1 Singles: Jessica Tracy beat Brook Meyer (8-4)
#2 Singles: Jaci Tracy beat Elora Gates (8-3)
#3 Singles: Maria Stevenson beat Kori Trautloff (8-Love)
#4 Singles: Megan Derry beat Devon Cook (8-1)
#5 Singles: Megan Sole beat Mariah Auxer (8-1)
#6 Singles: Magie Steinhoff beat Mersadee Joann Violett (8-2)

#1 Doubles: Tracy/Tracy beat Meyer/Ashlann Shroyer (8-Love)
#2 Doubles: Stevenson/Derry beat Gates/Trautloff (8-5)
#3 Doubles: Sole/Steinhoff beat Clark/Violett (8-1)

In junior varsity play, Trenton won seven matches to Lafayette's zero. Here are the individual results:

#2: Leah Husong/Siara Bailey beat Mackensie Murphy/Tristen Minor (6-3)
#3: Hannah Brinser/Hannah Sowder beat Annastazia Harris/Courtney Rogers (6-1)
#4: Hannah Robinson/Hannah Sowder beat Kylee Woodbury/Mariana Figueroa (FORFEIT)
#5: Megan Ellis/Jessica Harrison beat Amanda Kephart/Mariana Figueroa (4-1)
#6: Ashley Allen/Kellie Smith beat Feather Tovey/Cheyenne Curly (6-1)
#7: Michelle Stewart/Hannah Robinson beat Amanda Kephart/Delaney Wilson (4-2)

Trenton coach Abby Gott called the win a "great way to start the season, helping to build confidence for their upcoming match against Chillicothe". The Lady Bulldogs will take on Chillicothe on the road this Wednesday afternoon, August 29th at 4 o'clock.
