The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced that the Chariton County Highway 11 Bridge closure has been set for Monday, August 27th. The Burlington Northern - Santa Fe bridge located five miles north of Mendon was set to close earlier this month, but that was delayed when migratory birds were discovered on the bridge structure.

Representatives of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service have been monitoring this area and are hopeful that construction can begin next week. The Migratory Bird Treaty Act protects these swallows and their nests.
