The city of Chillicothe has announced plans to proceed with building a new and expanded water park at the present site of the municipal swimming pool.

If construction goes as planned, and weather conditions permit, the new water park at Chillicothe is expected to open on Memorial Day weekend next year.

The city of Chillicothe plans to save money on interest by authorizing an early pay off on its debt for the Fast Lane Family Recreation Center. Mayor Haney talks about action taken Monday night during a meeting of the Chillicothe City Council:

Haney was asked how the city council action affects ownership of the bowling and recreational facility in the north part of Chillicothe:

Grand River Entertainment has the management contract and there is a local board of directors that operates the facility. Fast Lane Family Recreation Center is managed by a TRENTON couple: Rick and Diana Peyton.

On another topic, Mayor Haney said an ordinance has been approved leading to road surface improvements on several streets of Chillicothe.

He reviewed the work to be done yet this year by a local company:

The 645 thousand dollar street improvement bid is considerably less than the 900 thousand dollars that officials had estimated for the same work. Funding will come from budgeted city funds at Chillicothe.
