A Brookfield man, who escaped from the Livingston County Jail in Chillicothe on Wednesday night, was arrested early Thursday night in Brookfield. Forty-one year old Bobby Waddle was taken into custody. Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox said the other prisoner who escaped from the jail, 22-year old Tony Dawson of Brookfield, was arrested early Thursday morning hiding at a residence in the 200 block of Clay Street in Chillicothe. Dawson was taken into custody without incident.

Information is to be submitted to the Livingston County prosecutor for consideration of charges accusing Dawson with first degree burglary and escape from confinement.

The escapes occurred on Wednesday night during the 9:00 hour. Dawson and Waddle were able to force open a sally port door and escape, while inmates were being taken to a security recreation yard for exercise. A jail video shows the men exiting from under the door, running north in alley, abandoning their jail uniforms, and fleeing northeast on foot.

This marked the first escaped from custody at the Livingston County Jail since Sheriff Cox took office in January 2001. The most recent escape from custody prior to that date was believed to be in May 1993 when a male detainee escaped through the same sally port door, which had mistakenly been left open.
