The Department of Natural Resources is holding regional collections of unwanted pesticides, fungicides, insecticides, rodenticides, de-wormers, fly tags, and fertilizers containing herbicides and pesticides. They are available to all Missouri residents. The pesticides and related chemicals can be from residences and farmers.

In this region, the Cameron Animal Shelter will be the site of a collection on Saturday, July 21st from 9 to 4 o'clock. The shelter is located at 521 South Elm Street.

Other collections are scheduled in St. Joseph and Macon in July and August. The St. Joseph date is Saturday, July 7th from 9 to 4 at the Remington Nature Center at 1502 McArthur Drive.

The Macon collection is Saturday, August 18th at Sydenstricker Farm and Lawn at 1810 North Missouri Street, from 9 to 4 o'clock.

The Missouri DNR says more than $1,000,000 for the program comes from a hazardous waste settlement. An independent contractor, Environmental Quality Company of Wayne, Michigan, will conduct the collections, under the supervision of the Missouri DNR. Nine collections are planned across the state. The DNR says they will continue as long as funding remains.
