The American Legion Post 31 at Trenton is organizing Independence Day events in Trenton. It is called a “Fun on the 4th Celebration.” Activities are planned for the Eastside Park area of Trenton. Opening ceremonies are at 9:30 that morning. Registration is 9:30 to 12 noon for a car and motorcycle show.

At 11 o'clock, the schedule lists a co-ed mud volleyball tournament. Registration forms are available at KTTN and Chumbley's both downtown.

A barbecue plate lunch, including pulled pork sandwiches, will be available beginning at 11 o'clock and continuing throughout the day. Proceeds go to the American Legion building fund. Brad Chumbley will provide music all day long. Spectators are invited to take their lawn chairs. Other activities include face painting and playground equipment for the kids.

The Independence Day celebration concludes with the annual fireworks display at dusk. The display is financed by monetary donations made in care of the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce.

The American Legion also plans to have a fund-raising concession stand this Saturday (June 16) from 10 to 5 o'clock in the area between ShopKo and Orscheln's in Trenton.
