KTTN/KGOZ News : Gooseberry Festival time has arrived in Trenton

Today (Friday) is “Set-Up” today for the farm equipment and machinery show this weekend in Trenton. It is known as the Bud Cox Memorial Farm Equipment Show involving antique and classic tractors and other machinery.

It can be viewed at the fairgrounds area of Trenton Friday and Saturday. Machinery and other farm equipment will be housed in a large area, and under a roof at the North Central Missouri
Fairgrounds of Trenton.

Weather permitting, there will be a tractor cruise on Saturday at 1 o'clock moving along several streets of Trenton. The four mile route will include driving by the nursing homes and through town.

Tonight, performers from ten counties present a summer concert on behalf of the Grand River Valley Choir and Orchestra. The 7 pm concert called "How Can I Keep From Singing" is held at the Trenton First Baptist Church. It is free to attend although donations will be accepted at the end of the concert.

The Iowa Missouri sanctioned tractor pull is at 7 o'clock tonight at the fairgrounds in Trenton. Bleachers have been brought in to the site to provide seating for spectactors. Admission is $10 for adults; $5 for students and military personnel, free for 12 years & younger.

Saturday June 16th events in Trenton include: 5K and 10K run / walk at 7:30 at Eastside Park, Kiwanis Little League Baseball tournament at Griffin and Johnson Fields (at the Ebbe Sports Complex), Vendors and a Gooseberry cooking contest at The Rock Barn, an art show in the Fine Arts room of the courtyard, horseshoe pitching at Eastside Park, and a clinic at 10 o'clock in the morning.

There will be a consignment auction of donated items at 11 am for the Thompson House and Grundy county museum.

The Veach Memorial ranch rodeo will be at 6 pm, at The Saddle Club, and the Wesley United Methodist church summer smoker BBQ at the church downtown from 5 to 7 pm, followed by the Texaco Country Showdown at 7 pm at Sesquicentennial Park.

Homemade gooseberry ice cream will be served on Sunday from 2 to 3:30 at the Grundy County Museum where railroad exhibit is the feature attraction. Two dollars is required as an admission charge.
