Nominations for people to serve on County Committees to advise the Farm Service Agency will be accepted beginning today (Friday, June 15th). Nomination forms must be postmarked or received by local USDA Service Centers by the close of business on Wednesday, August 1st.
Producers may nominate themselves or others as candidates. Organizations which represent minority and female farmers and ranchers also may nominate candidates.
Nominees must participate in a program administered by the Farm Service Agency, be eligible to vote in a county committee election, and reside in the local administrative area in which the person is a candidate. To become a nominee, eligible individuals must sign Form FSA-669-A. The form and information about county committee elections is available online at www.fsa.usda.gov/elections.
Elected county committee members serve a three-year term. They are responsible for making decisions on FSA Disaster, Conservation, Commodity, and Price Support programs, among others.
County committees are comprised of three to five members elected by local producers. Newly elected members and alternates take office on January 1st.
