Accidents : Clinton County accident injures five

Five people were injured, three of them seriously, when two vehicles collided at an intersection five miles south of Gower in rural Clinton County. It happened at the junction of Highway 116 and County Line Road.

The Highway Patrol described injuries as SERIOUS for the driver of a pickup truck, 16 year old Jacob Stephensen of Gower. He was accused of pulling into the path of a car driven by 34-year old Jayne Iske of Edgerton. SHE was SERIOUSLY injured, as was one of her passengers: 14 year old Kaylee Pike of Edgerton. Two other passengers, 61 year old Carolyn Knopp and one year old Jace Iske (both of Edgerton) received injuries described by the patrol as "minor" to "moderate".

All five of the injured were taken by ambulance to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. Both the car and pickup truck were demolished. The report indicated that all people involved WERE wearing seat belts.
