Posted by Tom on 2012/5/30 7:30:00 (150 reads) News by the same author

The fund raising goal is 30 thousand dollars for Saturday's Relay for Life events in Grundy County. It is the annual benefit for the American Cancer Society. Eleven (11) teams will be setting up outdoors on the Trenton High and Middle School campus. The theme this year is a “Rainbow of Hope.” The 12 hour event begins at 12 noon on Saturday.

Co-chairmen this year are Paul Fraser and Sarah Maloney who were guests yesterday on KTTN's Open Line. Here is Paul Fraser:

Other events include an auction of items donated by merchants and gift baskets provided by the participating teams. Musical entertainment is at 8 o'clock. The luminaria ceremony is at 9 o'clock. The cost is five dollars to purchase luminaria in memory or in honor of someone affected by cancer. The “Fight Back” against cancer ceremony concludes Relay for Life at 12 midnight. More information on these events can be heard on future KTTN newscasts. Throughout the day, the teams operate food booths and offer games to raise additional money for Relay for Life.

ALL activities are open to the public (not just limited to participating teams).
