The Adams Park Apartments building in Trenton was dedicated on Saturday with a ceremony that included past memories of the former school building, a review of efforts to seek funding for the apartment renovation, work on the building, and thank you's to several people in attendance.

One of the highlights of the ceremony was an emotional speech made by current resident Kathy Coon, who thanked building owner Hamilton Properties Corporation of Springfield, building maintenance worker Robert Hutchison, and Apartments Manager Cindy Soptic.

Trenton Community Developer Ralph Boots, who was the emcee for the dedication program, reacted to the remarks and the positive exchange of hugs that followed:

Earlier in the program, Steve Maxey of Trenton was among the speakers. Maxey attended portions of high school and college in the Adams Building and oversaw the Miss Trenton pageant for several years in the building. Maxey spoke about his personal memories, and then gave thanks for the building's restoration:
