Sports : Trenton junior Chandler Wilson qualifies for state with three sectional wins

The Trenton High School girl's and boy's track teams had an "up and down" day at Class 2, Section 4 competition on Saturday afternoon at St. Joseph Christian High School. The Lady Bulldogs advanced to state in seven events (including five first place finishes), while the Trenton boys advanced in five events (including four firsts).

Junior standout Chandler Wilson led the Lady Bulldog charge to state with victories in the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, and the triple jump. Trenton's girls won the 4 by 400 meter relay (McKinley Hurley, Mackenzie Mack, Maddie Hooyman, Chandler Wilson and Maddie Hooyman won the high jump.

The Lady Bulldogs will also advance to state with the 4 by 100 relay team (who finished third at sectionals) and the 4 by 200 relay team (who finished fourth).

For the Trenton boys, advancing to state are senior Freddie Pannell, with a FIRST PLACE finish in the triple jump; and Seth Acton, who won the 400 meter dash.

The Trenton boys were strong in the relays, with the team of Addison Fuller, Charlie Hoffman, James Fairchild, and Seth Acton winning the 4 by 800 relay; and the team of Sam Cool, Colby Larson, James Fairchild, and Seth Acton winning the 4 by 400 relay. James Fairchild also advanced to this weekend's state meet in Jefferson City after finishing third in the 800 meters.

Other finishes for the Trenton teams at SECTIONALS in St. Joseph included, on the girls side, fifth place for the 4 by 800 relay team of Molly Boyle, Shania Anderson, Peyton Guile, and Megan Sole; eighth place for Scotlin Hurley in the 100 meter dash; and sixth place for Mackenzie Mack in the 200 meter dash.

Those finishing outside of the top four for the Trenton boys were the 4 by 100 relay team of Sam Cool, Seth Acton, Keegan McGinness, and Colby Larson, who suffered a disqualification in their race after being out of zone on the first exchange; while the 4 by 200 team of Cool, Triplet, McGinness, and Larson finished sixth; Cool was sixth in the 400 meters; Michael Witten was sixth in the 3200 meters; Larson was fifth in the 300 hurdles; and Fuller was fifth in the 1600 meters.

BOYS 100 METER DASH:
Carrollton's Terrance Winn (1st place)

BOYS 4 BY 200 RELAY:
Hamilton's Derrick Hughes, Kellen Overstreet, Jalen Richman, and Devan Hughes (1st place)

GIRLS 1600 METER RUN:
Hamilton's Morgan Prather (1st place)

BOYS 4 BY 100 RELAY:
Carrollton's Jerin Hudgens, Ridge Mathis, Terrance Winn, and Darrian Owens (1st place)
