News : Valedictorians and Salutatorians announced at area schools

During high school graduations held on Sunday at area schools, the top two students at Trenton High School were announced as Valedictorian Karson Hill and Salutatorian Shelby Chaney.

The top two students at THS were followed by Haley Creason, Alexis Whitney, Mackenzie Mack, Clay O'Neal, Morgan Brown, Katie Barone, Kimber Hixson, and Vanessa Pauley.

During Sunday afternoon's commencement exercises at the Ketcham Community Center, Valedictorian Karson Hill thanked several people:

Salutatorian Shelby Chaney thanked parents and recognized teachers. She also gave recommendations for life:

In area school news from recent graduation ceremonies, Shelbi Stimpson has been named as the Grundy R-5 Valedictorian and Marina Munday as Salutatorian. Chillicothe had two valedictorians, with Sarah Baldwin and Elizabeth Sivill sharing the honor.

During graduation exercises on Sunday at North Mercer, James Laswell was announced as Valedictorian and Jacob Snow as the Salutatorian.

At Milan High School, the 2012 Valedictorian is Hannah Scott and the Salutatorian is Collin Rardon.

Jamesport Tri-County's Valedictorian is Gary Eads and the Salutatorian is Josie Lockwood. Special recognition was given to Ashley Neeley who was the top academic student. She enrolled at Tri-County in October. Students must be enrolled at the beginning of the school year to qualify for valedictorian and salutatorian.

Linn County R-1's top graduates are Valedictorian Hayley Wood and Salutatorian Skyler Gray.
