North Central Missouri College has announced the resignation of Kristen Boyes, after only one season as women's softball coach of the Lady Pirates.

Boyes was hired last year to replace the retiring Max Mothersbaugh, and found struggles with the on-the-field product in 2012, with North Central losing nearly 75 percent of its games and bowing out of the recent Region 16 tournament after two losses without winning a game.

Boyes came to North Central after a coaching tenure at Minnesota State University at Moorhead, Minnesota.

North Central Missouri College in Trenton accepted the resignation of its women’s softball coach last week, and a regional search is underway to name a replacement.

NCMC boasts a strong women’s softball tradition, with the Lady Pirates having finished in second or third place in their Region 16 tournament many times and earning a trip to the NJCAA Division I National Softball Tournament in 2004. Thirty-four players in recent years have been named Academic All-Americans and several have continued their softball careers at four-year universities and into the coaching profession.

The softball coaching position is open immediately. It consists of head coach responsibilities for the softball program along with teaching in the physical education and health areas. It is a full-time tenure-track faculty position.
