A run-off election held on Tuesday has resulted in a new member for the Spickard Board of Aldermen.

Winning a three person contest was Francis "Rusty" Soper. She received 28 votes. There were two other candidates on the ballot. Mary Gibson had 25 votes and Janice Vandevender received eight votes. All three had 18 votes in the April 3rd municipal election resulting in a tie, and bringing the special election by ruling of the Board of Aldermen.

There were 61 votes cast, including two absentees, which represented 39 percent voter turn-out in Spickard. Ms. Soper will serve the remainder of a two-year term which expires in April 2014.

Four aldermen and a mayor are elected officials for the town of Spickard. Janice Vandevender (who came in third) was an incumbent on the Town Board. Mary Howe was elected to a two-year term on April 3rd. Two other alderman have terms that expire in April 2013.
