The Trenton High School boy's golf team has advanced to the Class 2 state tournament in Springfield, courtesy of a runner-up finish to Barstow High School in Wednesday's Class 2, Sectional 4 tournament in St. Joseph.

Trenton's team score of 328 was 40 over par, and missed out on a sectional championship by just ONE STROKE, with Barstow shooting 327. However, the top two finishing teams advance to the state tournament.

Maryville High School's Trey Maughan was sectional individual champion with a score of one-over par 73, following by Cameron's Carter Morrison at 75, and Barstow's Alec Adkins in third place at 77.

Trenton's top score came from Blake Schlarb, in a three-way tie for fifth place at 79 with Barstow's Blake Thorp and Hamilton's Shawn Cook. Trenton's second place team finish sends all five Bulldogs to state, after Chase Tolson shot an 80 at sectionals (tied with 8th), Lane Beverlin shot 84 (tied for 12th), Austin Norris shot 85 (tied for 15th), and Joey Christenson carded a 91 (tied for 32nd place).

Those not from Trenton and Barstow, and under the cut line of 86, qualify for state, including LeBlond's Chris Crawford, Lawson's TJ Pennington, Hamilton's Matthew Schieber, Cameron's Eric Gimson, Brookfield's Lake Harmon, and LeBlond's Jack Robertson.
