The Milan girls and boys basketball teams evened their records at 2-2 with a pair of victories over the Atlanta Hornets Monday night at "The Den" in Milan. The Ladycats victory was 50-45 while the Wildcat boys downed Atlanta 61-42. Both games were broadcast on 92.3 FM KTTN and webcast on www.kttn.com.
In the Milan girl's victory, freshman Jordan Dunlap led the home team with 16 points, while senior Kayla Fleshman added 11, and junior Carly Bohle (Bow-lee) with 10. Atlanta's Beth Block led all scorers with 26 points in a losing effort.
Milan's Bryce Richardson led a balanced scoring night for the Wildcats with 17 points, with Logan Hill adding 15 and Tyler Morehead 10. Atlanta, a winless ballteam through two games, was paced by Preston Roth's 13 points. Milan's next games will be Friday night at Princeton on 92.3 FM KTTN. The Milan junior varsity teams will host rival Brookfield on Thursday night.
In other Monday night scores, the South Harrison Lady Bulldogs downed the Maryville Lady Spoofhounds 70-68 with Maryville boys returning the favor to the Bulldogs, in Bethany, 54-22. South Harrison's girls picked up 32 points from sophomore center Mysti Williams, 12 from Sierra Thomas, and ten points from Kelsey Butler. Maryville was led by Meridee Scott's 20. The Maryville boys were led by Seth Staashelm with 15 points, while no South Harrison Bulldogs reached double figures in the loss. The Maysville Wolverines made a rare Highway 6 roadtrip to Jamesport to play the Tri-County Mustangs. Maysville went home with a pair of victories, 45-21 in the girls game and 50-47 in a tight boy's contest. The Lady Wolverines had 15 points from Brittani Horsman and 10 from Megan Antle. Jake Mazurkewycz and Ethan Heimbaugh each scored 11 points and Jordan Holt 10 for the Maysville boys, with Gib Wray scoring 14, Beau Wells 10, and Jake Cook 10 for the Mustangs of Tri-County.
The Stewartsville boys claimed a 73-46 win Monday night against Cainsville, with the South Nodaway girls hammering Cainsville 75-15. The Scotland County girls, fresh off of a Novinger tournament championship from Saturday, beat Centerville, Iowa 51-46 on Monday night to improve to 4-0. |
