Sports : Trenton Earns First Volleyball Win Of 2014, Sweeping Plattsburg

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs, fresh off the disappointment of a three-game losing skid to open the volleyball season, responded to the adversity with a sweep of the Plattsburg Lady Tigers on Tuesday night at THS.

Trenton beat Plattsburg by scores of 25-21, 25-20, with LaKisha Hughs leading the offense with three aces and eight kills. Lyric Nolan had three aces, with Sarah Walker adding six kills. Alex Ewald bolstered the back line with nine assists and 13 digs, while Tomi Delp had seven assists. Freshman Maddie Searcy had her best night as a Bulldog, with five kills, and a kill percentage of 72%.

Trenton's first road test comes up Thursday night at Carrollton.

The Chillicothe volleyball team is now 2-0 on the season, courtesy of a home-court win over Brookfield on Tuesday night, 25-12, 25-4. Katelyn Parkey led the CHS charge with six kills, with Whitney Clampitt adding four kills, and Maggie Leatherman 12 service points. The Lady Hornets, now 2-0, play at Smithville on Thursday night in Chillicothe's MEC opener.
